From a sustainability perspective, it is crucial to know how long it takes various types of garbage to decompose.
In our project we focus our efforts on finding out how long it does take for a conventional polyethylene plastic bag and a biodegradable plastic bag to decompose.
Most plastics are not readily biodegradable, especially when buried in the ground away from sources of oxygen.
But we are curious: How long does it take for a conventional plastic bag and a biodegradable plastic bag to decompose?
Therefore we got the tool belts out and went to work 🛠👷🏻♂️👩🔬🧪
Now we and everyone else at school can observe what happens to the bags.
On the plus side: We are not only working on our long term science project, but will also hopefully be enjoying fresh fruits and veggies from our schoolgarden 🍅 🥒🥗🍉🍒
